Violin Master Pro – Scam or value for money?

I don’t like the word scam. It obviously has nasty connotations and I apologize for using it. However it is important to know, before parting with your hard-earned cash, whether you are spending it wisely or whether the author of the offer, Eric Lewis, is “taking you for a ride”.
I can answer the first part of the question “is it a scam?” in one word. No, it’s not a scam. The second part “is it value for money?” is easy too. $30 wouldn’t buy you more than one hour’s private music tuition – so you can’t go far wrong with a complete audio-visual course for the price of a one hour lesson! I have enjoyed (and am still enjoying) Violin Master Pro and the video tutorials are very clear and easy to follow.
The website itself, where you are introduced to the course, starts with a great short video of the violin being played. It whets the appetite. There’s a very brief verbal introduction where you are assured that the course caters for all standards and all styles of playing and this is followed by two further audio clips, illustrating contrasting playing styles – Jazz and Bluegrass. The sounds are great – I wanted it straight away!
The course itself encompasses every style of playing that you can imagine. Do you want to play Country, Folk, Hip Hop, Rock, Latin, Pop, Jazz or Classical? Eric is obviously classically trained but he is keen to open up his art to people from all walks of life who want to use the violin to express themselves with many types and styles of music.
Whether you are a complete beginner or already able to play, the first few lessons will be of immense value. Details such as muscle relaxation and posture are important foundations for the successful development of your talent. These then move into a seamless series of building blocks to develop your playing at a pace at which you are comfortable.
Don’t get me wrong, this course is not some magic bullet that is going to turn you from novice to Yehudi Menuhin in a matter of weeks. Improvement only comes with practice and dedication and practice and yet more practice. However, if you have the desire, then Violin Master Pro will definitely set you on the right track.
